We at Visual Solutions were asked by ENVIE EVENTS to study the feasibility of the MAIN SHOW projection in the Belgian Pavilion, to align and blend the projectors and to export our blended outputs to a standalone play-out system that would last for the entire expo duration.
It was basically a very low ceiling room, with a lot of existing AC ducts, cable trays and a lot of pipes attached to the ceiling. This made our task very very challenging.
With the use of Mapping Matter, we were able to perfectly visualise and foresee the upcoming problems due to the ceiling problem clashing with projector installation.
The projection surface was delivered and installed by Showtex MEA and was “made to measure” and curved in both axis, to make it a very organic shape.
The project was particularly challenging due to Covid delay and the hot temperature in Dubai. But in the end, we succeeded our mission.
the preproduction was done in Mapping Matter. the projector positions were exported from MM and imported into a d3 4x4Pro that we used to align all 16 outputs of this room.
After having aligned, blended, masked the installation, we were able to export all 16 files in QT animation to maintain full quality of the aligned and blended content. After that We handed the exported content over to the local AV company doing the day-to-day management of the Belgian Pavilion.
Now, let’s hope nobody bumps into one of the projectors 😉😉😉
