With the splendid architecture of the MAS (Museum Aan de Stroom), as the background setting, all spectators could witness a video mapping explaining the history, present and the future of the port of Antwerp.
Visual Solutions took part in the production process together with Balthazar Events. Together we searched for the best solutions for this show.
Projection was done, on this 40m wide surface, completely off-axis and with a double-stacked Barco HDQ-40 to provide a theoretical 80.000 lumens. Distance was close to 200m.
Jo Pauly from Visual Solutions visualized the whole projection setup in the d3 technologies server.
Play-out for the show was also done by d3, over 260 Gigabytes of QT animation files.
We thought it was simply the best server to use as a mapper and a playout system in one. With the Quickcal function, the double stack was (perfectly) warped and (perfectly) stacked in less than 15 minutes.
Another advantage of d3 was the low-latency hd-sdi input of the live camera mix!
